The Government of Canada intends to deliver on our climate change goals and recognizes that climate change remains an international issue. We recognize that, to combat climate change, financial and technical support must be provided to support international initiatives and programs.
The Government of Canada supports international action that strengthens the capacity of countries that are vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and countries that are committed to reducing their emissions.
As outlined in the Copenhagen Accord, Canada, together with other industrialized countries, is providing fast-start financing to help developing economies reduce emissions and adapt to climate change.
In addition to fast-start financing, Canada is also participating in key international partnerships, such as the Global Methane Initiative (GMI), since 2005, as well as the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate, from 2007 to 2011.
