Canada’s $20M commitment to the work of the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate is intended to leverage significant private sector investment in clean technology development and deployment in the eight energy and industrial sectors currently addressed by the Partnership. Membership in the APP provides an opportunity for Canadian companies, non-governmental organizations, universities and provincial/local governments to engage in the promotion of clean technologies with APP member countries, including China and India – key emerging economies that will be major consumers of clean technology for the foreseeable future.
The Canadian APP Secretariat offers different opportunities for Canadians to participate actively to the Asia-Pacific Partnership. These include:
- Registering with the Canadian APP Network: Registering will provide you with periodic updates about APP activities, including electronic newsletters, information about Requests for Proposals (RFP), funding opportunities, and general Partnership information.
- Joining the different Task Force Working Groups: Canada’s participation in each APP Task Force is guided by a national interdepartmental/private sector Working Group. Private compagnies, and research institutions can apply to take part in Canada's APP Task Force Working Groups. These groups manage Canada’s engagement in the Task Forces, advance Canada’s interests and the work of the Task Forces. The Working Groups also provide a technical level forum for interested public and private parties to engage in the activities of the APP, without being members of the International Task Force. If you are interested in contributing to a specific Task Force, please contact the APP Secretariat.
- Submitting a project: Statements of Interest will soon be sought from Canadian entities for APP projects to be carried out in partnership with one or more APP member countries. Detailed information will be provided about applicant and project egilibility, and the application process. More information will be available shortly. Register with the Canadian Asia-Pacific Partnership Network to be informed about future announcements.
